Looking at our calendars, it’s been quite a while since we had been down to visit the District. With jackets in hand and hearts ready for a getaway, we set out for a little trip to visit my family. David asked me before we left, “Has Christmas started for you yet?” I shook my head and tried to pinpoint when it would. After a few moments, I responded, “I will once I see my mom’s house.”
My mom decorates a bit early- ok ridiculously early. Her tree is usually up before Halloween and the whole house is sugarplummed in the weeks following. As a child, I remember the excitement building while continuing school in a winter wonderland. Now that I’m an adult, I miss those days. I have become too busy myself to get my act together that early so every year, my Christmas season is kicked into gear with a visit to my parents’s home.
As with every trip, we ventured into the city. We got an early start and enjoyed wandering the deserted stores. There isn’t a whole lot of variety as far as restaurants come around where we live so we like to take advantage of our trips to get some good meals. This trip- Cuban was on the menu.
On the way home, David and I decided to stop in at Lucketts to take a peek at the Christmas goods. We are slow travelers. We like to take our time and stop along the way when we see a shop or coffee shop that looks interesting. Those are some of our favorite days.
Hope you all are enjoying your week!
Until next time!
