There’s something to be said for a handmade gift. We know that when we receive it that we’re not only receiving an item of monetary value but one that is also filled with a lot of heart. But I know that the world is full of people who 1. are challenged by DIY projects and 2. may have the skills but are lacking in time during the bustle of the holiday season. I also feel as though there are so many DIY projects online that are sweet, but when you take the time to add up the cost of the project, you’re actually spending more on the gift than you would if you were to go out and buy it. This project checks all the boxes when it comes to ease, time and cost.
I doubt this is anything groundbreaking, but a couple of years ago I started picking up cute gift bags and cards and framing them. It’s perfect for quick seasonal decor and works well my inability to commit to artwork around my home. It occurred to me this year, that it would also make the perfect little gift during the holidays. While on one of my daily trips to Target the other day (I’m not kidding with the “daily” part. Moms of small children- you get me), I noticed they had a whole new card section from Minted and as I stood there racking my brain for some special event that I could purchase one of the beautiful designs for, it occured to me that a little holiday gift was just the occasion.
So get ready for it guys. The easiest DIY you’ll see on the Internet:
- Photo frame (if you’re using a greeting card, the 5×7 fits the cards PERFECTLY. If the card looks a little off, just bring it with you and check that it fits in the store.)
- Greeting card
- Place card in frame and secure
- Place in gift bag
- FA LA LA LA LA LA
There you have it. It’s basic but, I think, a really sweet gift. There are SO many pretty card lines out there, it’s pretty easy to find nice ones. Like I said, I found this Minted one at Target, but if you happen to have a Papersource or small boutique near you, they usually stock beautiful cards! The heart of this project is in the card that you choose. It can be a sweet sentiment or something quippy and sarcastic depending on the recipient.
That’s all from me today. A quick post for a quick project. I hope you have a little bit of easy DIY inspiration for your gift giving this season!
Until next time!
