It’s hard for me to believe that I’m in my third trimester, but here I am: large and in charge and ready for the home stretch!
I’ve finally hit the point where there’s no choice but to style the bump. Trying to conceal it ends in circus tent-like outfits and let’s face it, no one should step out the door dressed like that. Instead, I’ve resorted to outfits that hug my curves in the right way complimenting my body change rather than fighting it.
Also, at this point, there’s nothing fancy happening when I pick out my clothes. If it requires more than three steps, it’s out. With our February temperatures more akin to late March, I’ve settled on the shirtdress as a favorite staple. It’s quick, easy and can be layered if need be if caught in a temperature drop.
Here I’ve just paired it with some basic black tights (that I would actually lose if about 5 degrees warmer) and a favorite pair of boots. Quick, simple and (more importantly) comfortable. If things are looking a bit breezy, I’ll grab a sweater to pop over the get up. I love this short sleeved one because it adds a nice touch of warmth but still allows some breathing room. Let’s be honest, when you’re this pregnant, regulating body temperature is nearly impossible so I like the option of keeping my core toasty while leaving my arms out to breathe. David calls it the “leg out” method referring to how he likes to sleep with one leg out of the covers at night.
This sweater in particular also cuts me at a really great spot right now. It hits right where my bump starts so it hugs everything in and accentuates my curves rather than just covering them.
My best advice for all your pregnant mommas out there in your third trimester is to embrace your body. I know it’s not the easiest of tasks and some days it feels like squeezing an elephant into the ringmaster’s costume, but if you can pinpoint the pieces in your wardrobe that both flatter and comfort your growing belly, I think you’ll see how satisfying getting dressed in the mornings can be!
Until next time!
