I truly hope that you all enjoyed your Christmas celebrations and are feeling full of love and laughter going into our final holiday weekend of 2016! David and I had a wonderful Christmas season and have felt so blessed by our family and friends. Looking forward to 2017 has so many positives for us- including getting to see and know our first baby! We absolutely can’t wait to be parents. We still feel like kids ourselves sometimes, but we can’t wait to just love on this little life.
Going into the weekend, I was feeling a little bummed that I won’t be able to partake in the traditional New Year’s Eve sips. Not that the world revolves around it, but I do love a fizzy cocktail in hand during the holiday! So I thought I’d work on a little recipe for a fizzy mocktail festive enough for the New Year.
So for all you pretty mommas out there- enjoy!
- fresh pomegranate
- fresh lemon
- honey (or agave)
- pomegranate Izze
- San Pellegrino
- fresh sage
- fresh ginger
01. In a small saucepan, combine seeds from one pomegranate, 1 tsp peeled and sliced ginger, 1 tsp lemon juice, 2 tbs honey, a splash of water and a few sprigs of fresh sage. Stir together and let simmer over low heat for about 10 minutes. You’re looking for a syrup consistency.
02. Fill glass 1/2 way with ice. Fill cup with 1/2 pomegranate Izze and 1/2 San Pellegrino.
03. Remove syrup from stove and add 1 tsp to drink. Stir until combined.
04. Add a dash of fresh lemon juice and garnish with pomegranate seeds, lemon wedges and sage sprigs.
Ingredients make approx. 1-2 drinks- depending on your generosity. For those non-pregnant party-g0ers, you can elevate the drink with a shot of vodka or by adding a shot of dry merlot.
Wishing you all a wonderful New Year celebration this weekend.
Until next time!
