Hello, hello! I hope this Friday finds you well. I’ll be spending the day packing and finishing up some posts to keep you all reading with David and I jet off to Mexico! We leave in the wee hours of the morning tomorrow so I’ve been cleaning up the house for our house sitter and trying to get myself generally organized. I’m at the point in life where the summer has worn me out so much, I’m basically like, “Got a swimsuit? Yes? Ok, let’s go.” We are very excited for our getaway and are ready to just unwind and relax!
While attending Haven last month, I snapped the picture above of one of the Home Decorators Collection setups and posted it on Instagram. About a week later, I was contacted by HDC and informed that I had won a $1,000 gift card from my quick little giveaway entry! I was so excited I could hardly stand it! We have a few big, key items we’ve been looking into for the house and with the gift card, we’ll finally be able to pick up a few!
I’ve been shopping around the site and wanted to share some of my favorites with you. Making decisions isn’t my strength so I thought I’d see what you all thought as well!
We’re looking into getting a larger rug for our living room. We currently have a 5×7 but it actually looks a little swallowed up in the room. It’s gorgeous and would work perfectly in one of our spare rooms upstairs, so I think the plan is to move that and make room for one of these. Also, the one we have now ended up looking a lot lighter than I thought it did in the store so David has requested something darker to ease his concerns about spilling drinks and food. These three are major contenders: Anniston, Lena, Geneviere .
The Londonberry is by far my favorite! David and I are going to talk about which we like best, but ideally, I would love a large one of the blue in the living room and also pick up a smaller one in the taupe for another space- not sure where yet, but we will make room!
I’ve been on the hunt for a great chair for our living room for the past year. I love this wing chair because it has the classic shape of a wingback but still has modern details. I also love the wheels on the legs! I try to incorporate industrial elements when I can to keep things more masculine for David, and I think this chair is the best of both worlds. I just have to decide between blue and cream!
This glass front bookshelf is gorgeous and I would love to finally have a home for all my beloved books! I’d like to put something like this in our little addition room (which you probably have never seen since it’s currently a storage place for current furniture projects) so that we can display all our favorite books, magazines and records!
I’m also looking into a couple of petite chandeliers for our hallways. I don’t want anything too fussy or fancy- just something to replace the standard lights that came with the house. My two favorites are the Rockwell and the Bijoux.
David’s been asking to pick up a filing cabinet for our office and so far I’ve refused because I hate the idea of spending money on an ugly metal unit. However, this is such a pretty piece that I could definitely get behind having it around!
I’m also looking into some baskets for our mudroom. We have shelves already but are hoping to give it a little remodel. Our laundry is currently out there, but we’re hoping to move it soon and rework the space. We use that as our main entrance to our home so I would love to gussy it up a bit! Plus how cute are their names?? Baldwin, Shafer, Talia.
Since David has succumbed to stepping back and saying, “whatever you think! I know you’ll make it look great!” so many times, I’ve added this little guy to the list as well. David has a large collection of records currently resting in the basement and I would really like to find an antique display case for the living room where we can house the records and one of these great Crosley players.
What were your favorites? I had no idea that Home Depot had such a gorgeous line of furniture and housewares! I couldn’t be more thrilled to be welcoming several of their pieces into my home.
Check back next month for updates on what we decided to purchase and how they are looking in the house!
I’m now off to get packing and get sailing. I’ll leave posts scheduled for you all while I’m gone so please enjoy!
Until next time!
