Well, here we are in DECEMBER. I said at the beginning of the month that I had a feeling it was going to fly by and it did just that. It seems like just a blink ago October was coming to a quiet close and the leaves were finally beginning to turn. Now we are here. The cold is approaching, the branches have shed and we have taken our first tiptoes into the Christmas season. While I wish there was a way to snap my fingers and slow the world’s pace just a bit, my heart is full of joy for the Advent season. David and I are focusing on living a slower life this month. We have agreed to stick to family gatherings and quiet evenings in hopes that we can extend our few weeks of holiday cheer as far as possible. At the moment, I can’t get enough fairy lights, hot toddies, present wrapping and fa-la-la-la-laing.
Since it went by so quickly, take a few steps backward with me and take a look at what got me through my blustery month of November.
When I saw Anne Sage’s book, Sage Living, I immediately ordered it. I then proceeded to lay on my couch with a cup of tea and devour each and every page. Nathan Williams (found and editor-in-chief of Kinfolk Magazine) describes it this way, “Looking past trends and decor for show, Sage Living goes deeper to explore how our homes help us connect, entertain, create, celebrate and grow with our friends and family.” I couldn’t say it any better. If you’re still looking for a great Christmas gift, I can’t recommend this enough!
My wool star garlands from Restoration Hardware Baby. I snagged these on sale last month and absolutely love them! I have them strung across my windows in both my living and dining room. Every time I walk by and see them, my heart just wells up with joy! I thought they would be perfect for not only Christmas but also winter decorating. I’ll be honest, I’m so smitten with them, I can’t even think about taking them down in the spring!
If you know me, you know that my Rifle Paper Co. notebooks and notepads have been favorites for years. On a holiday getaway with David, I found a little shop where I could restock. This little flamingo sits proudly on my desk and reminds me of all the important lists, goals and priorities of the week.
I’ll be honest, I’m not usually a perfume girl. I love my sleep so much that I often leave the get ready “extras” in the dust. BUT! In an attempt to bring more normalcy to my life, I have been working on waking up early each day whether I need to or not. I’ve really enjoyed investing that little bit of time into myself at the start of the day. While in Philly last month, I stumbled across this perfume in J. Crew curated by Arquiste. It has hints of oak, whisky and cinnamon and is the perfect balance of scent! Plus, the gorgeous bottle always catches my eye as I pass my dressing table.
Lately, these Tarte Lipsurgence crayons have been with me wherever I go. Similar to the Clinique Chubby Sticks, these are wonderfully creamy and provide color and moisture without too much shine. I’ve recently been working on wearing less makeup which has been a bit of a test to my insecurities but a blessing to my skin. I find that with just a touch of concealer, some mascara and a great lip color, I can get away without foundation, bronzer, etc. These glide on so smoothly, you can apply without a mirror which is a lifesaver for me when I’m on the go!
I’ll be doing a full write up on this guy in January so check back for more info! But I will say this gorgeous piece is from Laite. The owner, Kristyn is one of the sweetest people I have ever worked with and I can’t wait to introduce you all to her!
My Marble and Milkweed nourishing facial balm. This stuff- changed my life! I was on the hunt for a great all natural skin care brand and found Marble and Milkweed by accident on Instagram. I received several of their products a few months ago and I have been giving them a go. Let me tell you, I will NEVER buy skincare from a large box store ever again. This stuff has changed my way of thinking when it comes to my skin. In just a couple of days I will be sharing all the products from this line that I can’t live without, but for now, I will insist that you all go and try the balm to start! It can be used as a cleanser or moisturizer and I use it at least twice a day. You only need a tiny amount so don’t be afraid of the small size! I have had mine for almost 3 months and haven’t even hit pan on it.
THIS SCARF. Ladies, let me tell you. Everywhere I wear this, I get compliments. I just give the sweet folks a little smile and whisper, “TARGET!” and I can see they can barely contain themselves. I will admit, it looks a lot fancier than it probably is. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some J. Crew and Anthro, but I snagged this little guy for a mere $15! I love it because it’s difficult to find plaid prints that have ALL the colors. Usually, you will find red and yellows together or blues and greens, but this guy has it all so it works perfectly with ALL my flannels which is a God send.
This sweater from Target ( on point this month apparently…) has stolen my heart! I absolutely love how it is a tunic style so I can throw it over jeans or leggings and not worry about length. Perfectly soft, it is just what I reach for when I need a bit of cozy. I tried on ALL THE SIZES (literally…) and decided that while I liked the fit of the small, the large would be best. First, I love oversized sweaters to layer over shirts and dresses. Second, I wanted a bit more length in the back to wear with leggings. Lastly, I tend to shrink sweaters in the wash. So I decided a little size assurance would be a good thing.
Well, that’s all for now! I hope your month was well even if a bit of a flurry like mine. Be sure to tag me on Instagram and let me know what you’ve been loving!
Until next time!
